Surrounded by mountains in high desert at 4,623 feet, Sierra Vista means "mountain view." Residents enjoy 350 days of sunshine with mild winters and cooler summers than desert valleys. Our area is in the high desert so the temperatures are about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than in Tucson which makes it a nice area to be in during the summer months.

 Ramsey Canyon Preserve and the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation area for birding, hiking, and photography. Check out Fort Huachuca's two museums. Also visit the wineries in the scenic rolling hills around Elgin, where sunny days and cool nights produce award-winning wines.

Fort Huachuca Museum. This museum explores the history of the U.S. Army in the Southwest.
Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Best known for its 14 species of hummingbirds, Ramsey Canyon requires reservations on the weekend from the Nature Conservancy.
